Forum: Antitrust Laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan & the Eurasian Economic Union
On April 9th the Head of the Laboratory Alexey Ivanov took part in the Antitrust Forum organised by the Centre for Development and Protection of Competition Policy of Kazakhstan in conjunction with the non-profit partnership 'Supporting Competition in the CIS Countries' with the support of the Committee for Regulation of Natural Monopolies and Competition Protection of the Ministry of the National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federal Antitrust Service of Russia.
The goal of the forum, according to the organisers, is to establish dialogue between regulators and the dominant and generally large companies operating in the Kazakh market. A particularly relevant topic of the forum was the statement of need for the harmonisation of antitrust laws across the network of member states comprising the Eurasian Economic Union Court (EEUC).
Participating in the event were leading representatives of the Committee for Regulation of Natural Monopolies and Competition Protection of the Kazakh Economic Ministry, of the Federal Antitrust Service of Russia, and of the Eurasian Economic Commission. Alexey Ivanov presented at the session titled Antitrust Laws Across the Territories of the EEUC, describing, among other issues, the results of a recent Laboratory study regarding the selection of exhaustion regime options for the EEUC in the context of international legal obligations relating to Russian and WTO law.
