Recent Article from Institute Director in the Journal "Law"

In the February issue of the leading Russian legal publication "Law" (Zakon), the main topic of this issue being the digital economy, we are happy to report inclusion of an article by Alexey Ivanov titled "Control of Monopolisation in the Digital Economy: the first part of the discussion of the Fifth Anti-Monopoly package".

Entering into the debate about the necessary changes in the regulatory field in connection with the development of the digital economy in Russia and the world, Alexey points out the special role of antitrust law in overcoming some negative factors that inevitably accompany industrial revolutions, such as growing inequality and monopolisation of markets. In this context, the article examines the work of an important institution of antitrust law - control of market concentration, an institution which has undeservedly receded into the background of the economy of the changing technological order. The example of the merger between Bayer and Monsanto shows the direction in which this institution must evolve today and what changes need to be made in Russian legislation to maintain and strengthen the vector of its positive development.
