Institute Director at DECODE 2018 Symposium

Beyond "surveillance capitalism": in search of European digital sovereignty. On October 16th and 17th, Barcelona will host the first meeting of the participants of the ambitious European project DECODE, dedicated to the problem of the use of personal data in the digital economy.

Leading experts from Spain, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, India, Russia, China, Ecuador, the USA, as well as representatives of the European Commission and the European Parliament will speak in a great centre of modern culture, Barcelona. The HSE-Skolkovo Institute for law and development will be represented by Alexey Ivanov. The opening session has been announced: "Taming Technological Giants: in search of answers to the challenges of digital trade wars and monopoly power". The global challenge facing the symposium participants is to find an alternative to the dominant model of digital capitalism based on the unlimited use of personal data. The conference is completely open to the audience. The discussion and presentations of the contributors will be available online via link.
