Director of the Institute at NYU School of Law's leading Antitrust Conference and the Concurrences Review Journal

On November 1, Alexey Ivanov took part in the annual conference "Antitrust and countries with developing economies"

The conference was opened by Eleanor Fox, professor at the School of Law at New York University, who has often visited the Institute in Moscow, and Benedict Kingsbury, Deputy Dean of the School of Law at New York University.

The event was dedicated to measures to combat cartels and corruption, and experts presented the public with strategies to combat these problems. The conference also discussed issues related to big data and its impact on economic development, the most pressing problems of the analysis of mergers in developing economies, and the consideration of public interests by regulators when making decisions.

Alexey took part in the session “Mergers and Economic Development: What Should Developing Countries Expect?” Representatives of leading consulting companies and professors of the New York School of Law also spoke at this panel discussion. In his speech, the Director of the Institute noted that in the absence of a global competition regime, developing economies, and in particular the BRICS countries, should cooperate more closely in the field of antitrust regulation at the supranational level, because only in partnership will it be possible to effectively deal with economic concentration, which is becoming the main challenge of the digital era.
