On 25 May, the Director of the Institute participated in the session "Promoting Competition: the new rules of the game" with a detailed report on his comprehensive evaluation of the situation in Kazakhstan in the field of competition and compliance with law and policy in terms of the OECD framework.

The Foresight Fleet in Full Sail

Mid-May in Russia saw the return of what has become the flagship national brainstorming session concerning technological development - Foresight Fleet. This year, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives discussed the National Technology Initiative (NTI); its implemententation strategy and its management. The NTI is a comprehensive program of directives that will guide the leadership of Russian companies into new markets, and which is tasked with achieveving excellence for Russia on the world economic stage over the next 15-20 years. The Institute for Law and Development organised the track inside the Foresight Fleet together with the Skolkovo Foundation.

On 18-20 May, the Institute for Law and Development in conjunction with University College London, in the framework of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, held an international conference on 'The Global Food Chain: Prospects for Development of Competition Law and Policy'

On May 12 a joint meeting of the NTI IPNet and FoodNet working groups was held concerning intellectual property issues in agribusiness: "Intellectual property in genetic resources: challenges for the development of agricultural science and production". The discussion took place on the eve of 'Foresight Fleet', aimed at joint elaboration of the strategy of the National Technology Initiative. 

Session on the Development of Approaches for the Protection of Competition in the Digital Space: The Case of Google

The HSE Skolkovo Institute for Law and Development in the framework of the 17th International Academic Conference of April, on the issues of economic and social development, on April 22, held a section devoted to the analysis and assessment of the impact of the development of competition in relation to the BRICS countries' Antitrust authorities versus Google.

Meeting of the International Working Group on the Research of Competition Issues in the Pharmaceutical Sector

On March 24 at the World Trade Centre a joint meeting of the International Working Group on the research of competition issues in the pharmaceutical sector was held, with the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia, with a high-level panel discussion on: "the Experience of the BRICS countries in overcoming the HIV/AIDS epidemic: the availability of medicines". The Institute contributed to the discussion.
